Kid friendly Paint and Sip

I enjoy painting even though I am not the best at it, so I figured why not share this joy with my kid. The first painting activity we did was an epic fail, but then I decided to try using my Cricut to get a cut image to iron on to canvas to share and wa-lah! more fun and work that we both were proud to show off and hang on the walls for all the world to see.

Another reason that I love this project is because the possiblites are endless! You could pesonalize it by adding names or your kids favorite animal, food, etc. You could also make it a fun paint by number or paint by letter activity. In addition to these ideas this makes for a great party activity for the young and older kids. I also think that this would be a fun baby shower activity as it would allow the parents to be to have some custom art work from family and firends to hang in the nursey.

This was a super easy craft and below I listed the materials and the tools needed. Outside of the Cricut and the heat press I got all of my materials from the Dollar Tree! I never knew that they sold heat transfer vinyl and for this project it works really well. It is inexpensive, sticks to the canvas like glue and I would dare to say that even if you are new to using your Cricut machine this is a great vinyl to practice with as it yields really nice results.

Materials:
8x10 canvas
Heat Transfer Vinyl
Cricut or any vinyl cutting machine
Heat press or iron

Directions:
1. Open Cricut design space and upload an SVG of your choice. I choose this cat from a pack of 200 SVG's I purchased off Etsy.
2. Choose the size of your vinyl decal. Since my Canvas was 8x10 inches, I made my cat decal approximately 7.5 inches x 5.5 inches. Honestly I probably could have went a little bigger to make painting in the lines easier.
3. Cut your design
4. Weed your design
5. Center your design on your Canvas
6. Set your Heat press to the appropriate temperature for your vinyl. Since I was using glitter vinyl I had my Heat press set to 330⁰.
7. Add paint, apple juice and patience. :-)
